CRITIQUE PROCESS

The critique process involved your group members reading your story or listening to your story and giving you warm and helpful feedback based on what they heard. I really enjoyed the many types of critique we did because I thought that each time as our story progressed, our critique got better and better. It was very helpful to do these types of small group critique because we got to hear a lot of different voices and minds interpreting our stories.
In my opinion, the most helpful critique was the third critique where we each had to tell our stories aloud to our group of five and they had to answer a couple questions on their paper. The questions were:
1. What do they feel is the strongest part of your writing?  Why?How can you enhance or build on the strength in your writing?
2. What do they feel is the weakest part of your writing?  Why? How might you strengthen this weakness or eliminate it if necessary?
3.Is the story Emotionally Honest?  How can you enhance the Emotional Honesty of your story?
4. Where do they think your power comes from?  Are you Explaining where your power comes from or are you Showing where your power comes from?  How can you better Show where your power comes from instead of Explaining it?
5. What is the Conflict of the story?  Is the Conflict strong enough for you to be greatly invested in the story?  How might you improve the Conflict?
6. What is at Stake in the story?  Is what’s at Stake important enough for the reader to be greatly invested in the story?  How might you improve what’s at Stake?
7.Is there a very strong Hook or Introduction?  How can you improve the Hook?
8.Does the story  have a strong Resolution?  What makes it strong or not strong?  How can you improve your Resolution?
To me, this was the most helpful because I got to understand what parts were getting through to my audience. From this critique, it was clear about what type of picture I was painting in their head and if I were telling my story.

Above are some of the first and last critique sheets I received and what my peers thought about my work.
