SOCIAL ADVOCACY

While learning about topics that interested us the most, we also reached out to people who advocated for the same thing our issue was about. We learned how to become social advocates looking to make change with these humans as inspiration. Along with this, we created stencil portraits that would serve as a carefully crafted art piece that was meant to honor them and their work.

SOCIAL ADVOCATE

This was my social advocate, Mari Hernandez. I met her one day while in Downtown, San Diego eating sushi. What I learned from our short talk was that she is an urban planner who tries to fit as much biodiversity as she can. After our talk, I asked if she would be my social advocate and she surely agreed. It was destined to be and we have been trying to find a time to meet that would fit our busy schedules for a further interview.

STUDENT TOPIC PROPOSAL

Before starting our project, we needed to find a topic that would be most representative of our passions and interests. As I was scoping through many environmental justice topics, I was inclined towards urbanization because of the amount of impact it had on the environment and the communities surrounding them. After doing some research on this topic, I was able to present to my entire class and share to them about why urbanization was important to teens.
