After attending this trip, I am even more excited about college. Hearing the tour guides talk about how much they love their school is extremely reassuring that college is something that I would want to take advantage of. I know I will struggle and run into stress, but I will make sure to ask for help because there will be resources for me to go to. If I were to rank the schools from least to most likely to attend it would go as follows:
UC Berkeley
San Jose State University
Cal Poly SLO
UC Santa Cruz
In all honesty, I feel that my social needs (certainty, autonomy, relatedness, fairness, status) would all be met. However, I felt that my needs would be most secure and embellished at UC Santa Cruz. Knowing that I would be a part of a very diverse group of students, I would be able to find fairness in this school. I also would be a part of a community that is much like the one I have at home which is the latino community because of their support for people of color. I fell in love with the campus because living amongst the woods is a choice I would make in hopes to absorb nature into my body. By looking at all of the resources they offer and companies they work with, I can have certainty about creating relationships with the “real-world” which can help me get a job after I am done with school. Lastly, since I want to be a part of the environmental field, I will have status coming out of college because anyone who knows the school can be assured that they are very environmentally aware.
