Skill and Improvement

Sailing into internship, I am prepared to use the skills I have previously learned at school and from my parents. I am very excited to use my social skills, my visual perspective, and my curious demeanor. I hope that my social skills help me to be very communicative with my colleagues. In the past, I have struggled with communication despite my love for talking with people. Hopefully, I will take this experience as a way to work on how to be more professionally communicative. I also plan on challenging my instinct of design in order to creatively solve problems or attempt experiments in a distinct ways. Lastly, I hope to use my curiosity to guide me through the entirety of the month. By being curious, I will allow myself to get the most out of the beautiful intelligence floating around me. Along with improving these skills, I hope to take away how to stay organized when collecting so much information. This will help me stay organized in my classwork and maybe even in cleaning my room. Another thing I would like to improve on is patience. From visiting the Kauffman Lab earlier in the year and speaking to multiple researchers, I learned that projects take years to complete, sometimes your entire career may only get to making progress towards one or two parts of your initial question. Considering that I will only be there for a month, I hope to learn the basics of what it takes to being so mindfully patient.

When developing my internship project, I hope to combine what I am learning and my creative skills. I hope to have created bonds during this time because it would make more sense in creating my ideal project. My ideal project would be drawing or painting my colleagues as jerboas, the animal that they observe closely. To do this successfully, I will need to create strong bonds with my colleagues as well as manage my time effectively in order complete the piece on time.
